Silver Nitrate Keratopathy

Abstract
A thirty yrs old female developed a corneal opacity in the left- eye following the pterygium surgery and instillation of the silver nitrate solution of unknown concentration at ophthalmologist¢¥s office for three consecutive weeks. This was associated with ocular pain and irritation. Biomicroscopically, the opacity was located in the deep interstitial layer and endothelium.
This opacity seemed to be due to the precipitation of silver chloride, and was cleared nicely with instillation of 0. 35% solution of edathamil calcium disodium.
